The Adopt-A-Fire-Station Program improves the working and living conditions for firefighters and paramedics for all 106 LAFD fire stations. Working in 24-hour shifts, stations are not only a workplace but also members’ second home. Everyday household items like washers, dryers, ice machines, coffee makers, kitchen faucets, refrigerators, etc. are used around the clock. When one of these items breaks due to the heavy usage, a replacement is not covered by the city’s budget.
